Gordon Elsden BSc

Over the years I have developed a specialist expertise in both the sourcing of products from China and the Far East and the development of distribution networks throughout China for products manufactured in the West.

I have been involved with the Chinese race and culture since 1980 when I joined the Royal Hong Police Force, having graduated from Loughborough University with a Bsc in Economics and Mathematics. The next seven years gave me front line 'Operational Command' experience in units as diverse as criminal investigation and an anti riot platoon.

With the prospective acquisition of Hong Kong by China I left the RHKP and joined Racal Electronics where I was extensively trained as an International Business Development Manager specialising in the Asia Pacific Region. Further acquisitions provided me with international business experience in 3M and more recently Marley Floors. With Marley I successfully established a commercial office in Shanghai tasked with selling and marketing a British made flooring product throughout China.

During the last three years I have been working on behalf of flooring distributors in the United States, Australia and Europe sourcing a range of flooring and building products. This has provided these distributors, who have neither the experience nor resources to trawl through the vast Chinese market, with competitive products and increased margins. I have access to an office and local resources in China to help in my client work in the Far East.

I have attained a reasonable level of spoken Cantonese and Mandarin and have recently passed an A level in written Chinese.
